Sunday of Orthdoxy

The Typika service is a shortened version of the full Orthodox Divine Liturgy that can be read and prayed by the laity. As we do not currently have a public meeting location, the Wuertz family hosts the service and a “coffee hour” potluck brunch afterwards in their home. If you would like to attend, e-mail parish secretary Lisa Wuertz at snlwuertz at gmail dot com or call (661) 703-2757 and she will pass along the address.

Sunday of Orthodoxy
Originally, the Prophets Moses, Aaron, and Samuel were commemorated on this Sunday. The Alleluia verses appointed for today’s Liturgy reflect this older usage.

Today we commemorate the “Triumph of Orthodoxy,” the restoration of the holy icons in the reign of the holy Empress Theodora (February 11).
